The Battle of Fredricksburg was re-created by transforming this colonial town, a unique American treasure,
into the city of Fredricksburg, Virginia. Director Ron Maxwell insisted on using Harpers Ferry; no computer effects,
no back lot movie sets, he wanted the real deal. It was a master production stroke.
